Spruce Grouse!  Countdown to 700:  this was the last Wisconsin breeder to get on the list, and not the easiest bird to ‘get’ in the state (in certain parts of Canada they’re all over the place).  So took a quick 24 hour trek northward to the Three Lakes area and yesterday found a female in the early morning hours on a back dirt road in the Headwaters Wilderness, part of the Nicolet National Forest.  Photo of bird courtesy of Google Images.
